Ainsworth Hot Springs, B.C. is located on the shores of Kootenay Lake, in the Purcell Mountains of the West Kootenays of British Columbia, near Nelson, and Kaslo. You can get to us on highway 31, from the North through Revelstoke, New Denver or Nakusp. From the South a 45 minute drive from Nelson, up highway 3A, or a 1 hr 15 minute drive from Creston (highway 3A), taking the Kootenay Lake Ferry.
Celebrated as the longest and most scenic free ferry crossing in the world, the thirty-five minute voyage from Balfour to Kootenay Bay is operated by the Ministry of Highways as a year round service. Two ferries provide continuous service from 6:30am until 10:20pm daily. The Osprey 2000, our brand new 80 car ferry came into service in August 2000
